“Now, Adam can actually fall asleep all on his own in his crib and stay asleep for naps and at bed time!”

Working with Sarah as our sleep consultant was amazing and dramatically improved the sleep habits of our now 4 month old baby, Adam! We had fallen into a routine that was not sustainable – Adam was napping mainly in a carrier, and we were nursing to sleep and cosleeping at night. I was his sleep prop, and he had never really fallen asleep on his own. Adam also started waking up every 1-2 hours after 12am, and though I love cuddles, I knew it was time for Adam to not NEED me or any other prop to fall asleep.

Now, Adam can actually fall asleep all on his own in his crib and stay asleep for naps and at bed time!! It is SUCH difference from where we were before, and it only took a few days of working with Sarah and implementing the sleep plan she developed to see huge improvements. She was so encouraging and proactive throughout the whole process, providing us with daily suggestions on how to improve Adam’s schedule and sleep plan. I got the sense that she really cared about our family and wanted to equip us with the knowledge and confidence to continue to nurture Adam’s independent sleep skills even after our time with her was up. Our lives are soooooo much improved, and we are forever grateful!!

Before working with Sarah we were spending up to an hour rocking our daughter to sleep every time and then hoping she wouldn’t wake up as soon as we set her down. Plus her bedtime was unpredictable and very late. Heading back to work from maternity leave, I knew we needed a change that would foster better independent sleep skills so that we could all be happier and more well rested. However, I didn’t know quite how to get there. Sarah helped us implement a routine that included an earlier bedtime and allowed our daughter to fall asleep on her own. Within the first day we saw improvement and by the end of the week she was sleeping great and also much happier and more well rested during awake times. Before starting Sleep Wise our lives were unpredictable. With twins things are crazy enough and we needed some consistency and that’s what we got with Susan. Emma and Ella were decent sleepers before we started but there are TWO of them so we were getting up multiple times a night to reinsert their pacis and we had inconstant naps that seemed to be all over the place. These issues along with knowing we were ready for a schedule change pushed me to call Susan. I am so glad we did. Working with Susan Lowman at Sleepwise Consulting was the best decision I ever made for my son and my whole family. We followed the Baby Wise method with our older son and he took to it well but our younger son did not. We tried sleep training him for two weeks on our own and did not get the results we wanted. It was just terrible for everyone. What we knew even before working with Sleep Wise is that sleep training is not just about putting a baby in a crib and letting him or her cry. Sleep training requires an overhaul of the baby’s entire day and night sleep routines and habits. Our problem was that we had tried everything and worked hard for good day and independent night sleep but we didn’t know about all of the “hidden” sleep props we had and the habits that we had that were making it harder for our son to sleep. Working with Susan was such a pleasure. Finally we had an expert telling us exactly what we needed to do so we didn’t have to play anymore guessing games. We went from following advise from moms on facebook (who frankly don’t know what they are doing anymore than I did!) to working with a trained expert who was able to give us a plan to follow. Our son went from waking numerous times per night to sleeping through the night with a simple bedtime routine and taking long and predictable naps. He even started daycare this week and took two long naps despite the noise and light in the room. Susan helped us teach out son to build his own independent sleep skills to the point that he WANTS to sleep when he needs it rather than fighting sleep. We couldn’t be happier with the result. Before sleep training, my little one was waking up minimum 2-3 times a night, her longest stretch of sleep was maybe 4-5 hrs, sleeping only 30-40 minutes for naps, and was dependent on SO many sleep props such as the swaddle, pacifier, bottle, holding, rocking, walking, etc.

Felipe and I used to call her “The Beast” because we terrified of her when bedtime comes around. Hiring Katie is quite possibly the best thing we have done for our 15 month old girl (and us)!! Hailey never slept great and we kept making excuse after excuse for her (constantly sick, mouthful of teeth, lack of eating solids, etc.). The more time that passed the worse she got and the more our patience wore out. We knew we needed an expert and I feel like we struck gold with Katie. We started training Eli when he was 14.5 weeks. Before starting, Eli wasn’t a terrible sleeper, but he was still being swaddled, sleeping in a dock-a-tot, and using a pacifier for naps (not bedtime). He went to bed at 8pm, woke up for middle of the night feeds twice a night, along with a few other middle of the night wakings, and didn’t necessarily have a specific wake time. He used to go down with a fight every time and would fuss for a while before actually falling asleep.

After using Susan from Sleep Wise, Eli now puts himself to sleep for all naps and for bedtime and the best part is, he doesn’t use any sleep props. He sleeps through the night and takes 3 solid naps throughout his days. He knows what to expect, and when to expect it. When he does go down for naps/bed, he doesn’t fuss anymore, and instead he will smile at us from his crib. Granted it isn’t this perfect all the time, but 85% of the time he does great. as for the other 15%, I feel well equipped with enough information to deal with any bumps that come our way. Thanks to Susan, I also have a great understanding of what to do moving forward as Eli grows and how to transition him from 3 naps to 2 and then to 1 nap. I feel confident that sleep is one issue that my family will not have to deal with at home!
