The Link Between Nutrition & Sleep for Your Toddler
Did you know that what your toddler eats will impact their sleep quality? And we’re not just talking avoiding sugar before bed, either. Here are a few tips and tweaks for your toddler’s nutrition to help you equip him for the best sleep possible!...
“For 18 months, my husband and I went with minimal sleep and kept telling ourselves that our son would “grow out of it” and starting sleeping all night. Instead it got worse…to the point that we would have to rock him to sleep for at least 20 minutes for him to wake up screaming after only 1 hour in his crib. Then we would bring him into our bed, and all night he would toss and turn keeping us up. We had just about lost hope and our sanity until we met Katie. She was very kind, patient, positive, and knowledgeable. She helped us every step of the way and even went above and beyond with extra support when our little smart/stubborn guy gave us a run for our money. But Katie figured out the best plan to teach us (and our entire family) how to help him learn to put himself to sleep and stay asleep in his crib. It has been almost a month now, and we are still amazed at how well he sleeps… we still feel like it’s a dream. Thank you so much Katie!!!!”
“The professionalism and effectiveness you will experience with Katie is out of this world. Our 3 month old baby boy was a HUGE sleep fighter. My husband and I were on the fence about using a sleep consultant because we thought “we had it figured out” based on books and research we did on our own, but after 3 long months of sleepless nights and lots of crying, from both myself and our son, we knew we had to do something before I went back to work. Within days of implementing Katie’s plan we had stopped all sleep props and saw a drastic improvement in naps and night sleep. She not only helped us to teach our son how to self-soothe and sleep well but also educated my husband and I enough about pediatric sleep so we may continue her plan beyond our time with her. Our baby boy now sleeps 11-12 hours at night and naps like a champ. I am constantly getting compliments from my caregivers about how our son is “a dream” and the “easiest baby” they have ever watched. My husband and I are just blown away by the results!”
“Our son Trey was 4 weeks old when my husband and I decided to contact Katie. We had implemented great sleep routines with his older sister, but this little guy was proving to be much more of a challenge! He would only sleep when being held, and putting him down in a swing or crib would usually wake him, forcing us to start the whole process over again….At one month old, we didn’t feel comfortable letting him cry for long periods of time, but we also knew we couldn’t go on with the screaming overnight and dreading every time he needed to go down for a nap, especially with a toddler in the house that needed our attention too. He needed sleep, and so did we. With Katie’s guidance, we were able to help Trey learn to put himself to sleep in such a quick time frame. He was putting himself to sleep for naps and bedtime within a week, and becoming a much more content baby because he was getting such good rest. It’s been two months since we’ve had Katie’s help and Trey is still sleeping great! 12-13 hours overnight and three naps during the day…It gives us great peace of mind to know he’s getting the rest he needs, and he is able to accomplish that on his own. Our grumpy little newborn is now a happy well rested baby and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Thank you Katie!”
“A big huge thank you from our whole family for your guidance, support & patience as we embarked on sleep training. We are so appreciative of all you have done to help us getting Matilda sleeping though the night. Without a doubt we are finishing our time with you with a better understanding of babies sleep habits, needs & of course a baby who sleep through the night. I will be sending all my Mommy friends your way who need your help!”
“We were blessed to have been gifted a package with Katie, and we so desperately needed it! The night before we started with her had been one of the worst… 3 hours of holding and rocking our 3 month old while he just wailed and wailed trying to go to sleep! I knew that no matter what “sleep training” entailed, it couldn’t possibly be worse than what we were already going through. Imagine my surprise when our first night on our new plan was less than half the crying we had endured doing things our own way… and that night was supposed to be the toughest! Things got progressively better with nighttime sleep and he now goes to bed BY HIMSELF in his crib and sleeps about 11 hours overnight…. Our whole family is better rested now, and we can’t thank Katie (or our very generous gift-giver) enough!”
“Katie is a godsend! Our baby was getting up every 2 hours and was sleeping in the bed with us. My husband and I were getting ready to return back to our teaching jobs and were extremely exhausted. I honestly didn’t think I could go back to work. My good friend referred me to Katie. All I can say is, “THANK GOD!” Mikey is now sleeping most nights from 6:30 pm-5:30-6:00 am. If you are having any issues with sleep issues, please contact Katie. Don’t hesitate or double guess if it is worth the money. I will tell you, it is! Katie is very professional, but also very motherly. Thank you Katie for all the sleep you have given our family and Mikey!”
“When we first sought Katie’s help, our daughter’s sleep wasn’t “bad”. Tell most parents that your 6 week old is sleeping 7 hours a night and they’d be happy to switch places with you. However, I was a mess! I was spending hours on the Internet researching blogs on sleep and devouring books only to end up more confused and always feeling like I was failing. Hiring Katie was the best thing we could have done for me and our little girl. Finally, I could seek one professional’s opinion and rest! At first I was skeptical but after our nighttime sleep extended to 12 hours, I was up for anything the “sleep lady” would have us do! Katie’s care and concern are genuine and her client service is top of the line. I was so pleased with our results, I purchased a package for a friend who is also a very, very happy customer.”
“Thank you so much! We have had the best experience with you! We are so proud of where Henry is in his sleep journey and we have you to thank for it! We wish you the best of luck and will be referring you to everyone we know! :)”
“Jackson has far exceeded my expectations! I suspected it was the sleep props that were preventing him from sleeping well, but I just had no idea how to break it. Your plan has worked beautifully, so thank you for your help! Jackson seems so much happier too. It’s nice to have my happy, easy-going baby back!”
“We contacted Katie when our daughter was 10 weeks old. Every night we were struggling to get her to bed at a decent hour and failing. She would start fussing in the early evening and wouldn’t go to sleep — and stay asleep — until sometime between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. I was at my wits’ end and desperate for help. My pediatrician and lactation consultant reassured me that nothing was wrong and that all babies have a “witching hour,” but I sensed that there was more going on. Since implementing Katie’s plan, our daughter has been going to bed every night around 7 p.m. and has been sleeping 11-13 hours. I am thrilled to have my evenings back to relax and spend time with my husband. I have to add that it is so wonderful to be able to put her down for a nap in her crib and see her put herself to sleep with minimal to no fussing. It’s really a gift. Now instead of spending an eternity patting/shushing/walking/rocking her to sleep, I get to spend that time doing other things with my husband or son. I am so glad I contacted Katie; she has taught me so much and has been so encouraging and helpful. She’s given me my sanity, and my happy baby, back!”
“I just want to say what a lifesaver Katie has been! We started sleep training by ourselves at 8 weeks but had little success. He was still sleeping in my room and was only able to fall asleep in my arms while being rocked. It became exhausting! With Katie’s help, he now sleeps 11-12 hours at night in his own crib! He takes all naps in his crib as well. One of the things I really liked about Katie is that she did not expect me to let my son cry it out. She used gentle methods that helped him learn how to self-soothe himself to sleep. Since starting, RJ is a much happier and relaxed baby! Katie’s method and schedule I recommend to any family that is struggling with day and night sleep. She really cares about my son’s sleep success as much as I do. It is so rewarding to watch RJ peacefully fall asleep on his own. I would not have been able to help RJ achieve this without her help!”
“Thanks for being here for me. Having your accountability and support helps probably more than you know. Since I’m taking this task on alone at night because my husband works second shift, I’ve felt like you are right besides me cheering me on.”
